I was attempting to put this post together while Charles listened to the vice presidential debate a few feet from me. But maintaining my apolitical artistic bubble was too much effort, and I went and lay down on the couch and promptly fell asleep. Now it's nearly midnight and whatever I had to say a few hour ago has evaporated.
The top photo was taken a few weeks ago walking around Riverdale. The second was painted by Isaiah this week--the sun, the rain, and a rainbow. The third photo was taken this summer in Cape Cod, three high school girls standing in on a dry slope with their cell phones. The final shot was taken on Monday when Charles and wandered leisurely around SoHo.
Next week: reflections. Any suggestions for new themes?

Ha! I could not identify with that any more than I do. : )
Well, I totally messed up and took reflection photos this week. I'll go ahead and link to it though because I'll be gone next Friday. Anyway, I adore the variation of your golds. They are unexpected and intriguing. Isaiah's painting is especially beautiful and that last photo, which I think is my favorite, is all kinds of interesting, and mesmerizing. You make me want to travel and experience sights, sounds and tastes beyond my little Indiana bubble.
Have a peaceful weekend, Amber!
I love the last photo especially.
I fell asleep as well yesterday while my husband watched the debate.
I also was tinkering around artistically while the vice presidential debates were on and not having much success. Thanks for always coming up with these great themes, Amber. I love looking at the photos of others through the lens of a theme. It adds another layer of interest to each one, and then to all of them as a group. I think this is especially true for this set of yours-- the gold is so understated but present in a different way in each one.
The debate was 3 hours earlier for us, so we were wide awake. It was fascinating to listen to two great American statesmen discussing the critical issues of our day with such insight and compassion. Golden moments. Good times.
I have only recently come to appreciate how lovely children's paintings can be. I never saw it with my own kids, but my wife saved lots of their stuff. Now I do. Isaiah's painting - and the image of it - is great.
Cell phones so often they take us out of the place we are in. The cell phones on Cape Cod fascinate.
