diptychs

I know y'all don't obsessively check my flickr site, so I'm posting a few of my more recent diptychs here. There is something about making diptychs which reminds me of high school, of scissors and magazines and glue.

I like feedback.

Hey--these are really interesting. I love the one with Veronica and the cloud. Is that Charles saying "shhh?"

Tell me the basic premise of a dyptic--is it that the images combined are different but have some parallel feature, like the cloud/streak in the bottom picture and the cut out shapes that appear in both the top ones?

I don't think I have a clear premise underlying the diptychs, what I'm trying to do is find images that both 1)add meaning to each other by being next to each other and 2) look good visually together. The two top images do this best I think. The image of the icon and Veronika with a camera on the road does this by 1) St Veronica holds the face of Christ on the right and Veronika S. holds a camera--image maker--while looking back at an Orthodox church on the left. 2) the lines of my hair mimic the lines of the road, mimic the lines of St Veronica's cape--pointing to one another; orange and blue are complimentary colors... (something like this).

And yes, that is Charles shhhhhing.

I did notice that the image of the bird guides you to see the bird image in the table, and I really like that. The table bird is almost more bird-like than the other, more obvious bird image.

Oops, I mean chair.

That somehow does not look like Veronika.

All of these are really excellent...I'm not sure I have the energy right now to plumb their depths.
